Great book and really informative. I'm saving money for an internship but until then I'm trying to learn everything I can just to get a jump start. This book is all about fundamentals, true to text book format. It's unique in this as I was trying to find a book that wasn't just page after page of designs. He stresses learning the proper way through an apprenticeship. There is no substitute for learning directly from a master but this can show you the basic fundamentals so that you're armed with knowledge. It covers everything from how to build a machine and the breakdown of the parts to bloodborn pathogens and the importance of proper hygiene. I'm really glad I picked this up. I feel better informed.

Takes the craft seriously. Not for the pick up a machine kit and play kind of instructional route.

Literally everything this guy says in the book is that it's a matter of preference... Needle length, voltage, outlining, shading, every single thing. He does say what is recommended or what is most popular, he doesn't say anything helpful in this book. I bought it to expand my knowledge of tattooing, as I have been doing it for about two years and wanted to learn more about technique and recommended tips and tricks; this book will not help you. If you're a brand new artist maybe it might shed some light of a few things, but for the most part he tells you just need around with it and figure out what you like... There I just saved you $35.The book came on time and was in great condition, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars, but the information in the book is pretty useless.

As it's not for me I cannot write a 100% accurate review. But anyway, a very small book for the price BUT I assume that is because it has no illustrations/pictures in it. It's all text which is good. My little sister wants to be a tattoo artist and I hope this has enough information for her to learn more about her chosen career path. It was thrown in with my other orders so packaging wasn't great but the book didn't sustain any damage from that.

I started out with this book and it gave me all the base knowledge needed to help me in my apprenticeship. I recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a professional apprenticeship or simply curious about the fundamentals of tattooing. Note: Follow the books advice, never take to skin without professional guidance from a creditable shop. No book will ever substitute for an apprenticeship.

It's only the second tattoo beginner's book I've read this month, but I personally found it superior to the first (The Complete Art of Tattooing - Erick Alayon). This book breaks down the art of tattooing into easy to follow fundamental sections. In the early part of the book it even defines a set of landmarks the beginning artist should accomplish prior to putting needle to skin. It's everything the beginning artist needs in their first book. It touches on all aspects of the industry and process of tattooing. I highly recommend it to the beginning artist.My favorite thing about this book is that the author gives the reader a of list of retailers for equipment and supplies after each respective section. Like other beginner's books he stresses the importance of an apprenticeship, and informs beginning artists that quality equipment and supplies from many renowned retailers will only sell to licensed tattoo shops.

Excellent book and extremely well written. This book give a great insight into tattooing from explination of your machine to sanitation and more. Everything is written and explained in such a manner that anyone can understand and will grasp. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in tattooing or tattoos in general. You won't be disappointed.
